BE OPEN

It’s often said that as we get older, we get more set in our ways, less open to growth and change. I hope that’s not true of me. This has been on my mind a lot lately; not just because I’ve just celebrated a milestone birthday, but I also clearly heard God speak to me “Be open” as I lay on a hospital stretcher awaiting surgery recently.

Now, I am more aware of being open to opportunities, to other people’s perspective, to passages of the Bible that seem tough to swallow. Even in the way I manage my weight health journey.

Being open requires us to notice God’s presence in my life and the choices that He sets before us in the big and small things. Once we are aware, we can make changes and grow.

I hope to unpack some of this with you, dear readers, in upcoming weeks, and only God knows how far it will go. I imagine there are numerous ways that we can be more open than I have noticed God showing me.

If you are looking for change in your life, perhaps being open is the first baby step. It can be uncomfortable, and even scary, but so far it’s been an amazing perspective to take hold of, but look at the autumn leaves and evolving seasons – change can be beautiful.
